The Lessons of the Platypus
During the winter season, we can lose up to four hours of sunlight a day; that is twenty-eight hours of extra darkness a week. The stillness and general lack of sunlight during this Yule-Tide season can lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder [SAD].
It is easy to get wrapped up in the natural reflection that occurs during the season, but it is also important to consider self-care. SAD can be produced when the lack of sunlight from the shorter winter days knock off the body’s circadian rhythm, producing chemicals that can make us lethargic, throws off our sleeping patterns, chemically changing our moods, and cause over-eating.
Platypus Venom is given its bold fragrance from a lavender and tea tree oil blend. Lavender oil has been illuminated for its added benefit in relaxation and in countering fatigue and insomnia. Lavender inhalation also attributes to the release of stress and the calming of fear-tided emotions. Lavender’s partner in this blend, tea tree oil, helps with nasal irritation, cold relief, and can even ease a winter cough. Tea tree oil also helps rid of toxins and germs from the air that the holiday season often brings- truly allowing for the relaxation you need.
The lesson of the Platypus this season is self-care. Dealing with the joy, grief, family, depression, and excitement of the Holiday Season all requires self-love and being present -despite the sometimes lonely elements that come a long winter season. Allow our strongest scent to soothe you and yours into any holiday season.
